Accommodation for sunshine holidays in spain...

3,000 hours of sunshine a year and a climate similar to that of Florida yet only a short flight away – Fuerteventura is an ideal year-round holiday destination. Often referred to as the island of eternal spring Fuerteventura literally means “strong fortune” or “strong wind” but it isn't just a surfers' paradise. On the island of Fuerteventura everyone can spend a perfect holiday.

The second largest of the Canary Islands in Spain, Fuerteventura is situated in the Atlantic Ocean only 100 kilometres off the coast of North Africa. It is the oldest of the archipelago's islands dating back to a volcanic eruption at least 20 million years ago, which has shaped Fuerteventura's rocky terrain and barren, stony surface. Unlike its neighbouring islands, Fuerteventura's lack of high mountains means that precipitation is relatively scarce with only 147mm per year as trade winds tend to just pass over the island.

Boasting over 150 sandy beaches holiday makers can choose between sun soaked relaxation and action packed adventure. With constant winds to the north and west of the island Fuerteventura is ideal for surfing and rightly considered one of the best places to surf in Europe.

Most recently kite-surfing has also become popular and there are numerous wind- and kite-surfing schools on the island to suit all abilities.

Scuba divers will be attracted by the clear Atlantic waters with its cavorting dolphins, turtles, marlins and whales.

In 2009 Fuerteventura was declared a UNESCO biosphere reserve due to the its diverse ecosystems, which range from desert to maritime habitats. Due to recent governmental investments some stunning coastal walkways have been created along the island, one of the most popular ones being the track between Caleta de Fuste and Nuevo Horizonte.

Los Lobos Island, a nature reserve to the north of Fuerteventura, can be reached by ferry and boasts some stunning walking tracks. It is home to an enormous variety of seabirds and fish such as Bream and Barracuda, which can be spotted in its surrounding waters.

And what better way to unwind after spending the day in the great outdoors than enjoying some of Fuerteventura's renowned live music in the evening. Or you could tickle your tastebuds by sampling the local Majorero and Palmero cheeses, both of which are made from goat's milk and are Denomination of Origin protected.

Now you can imagine how beautiful and special this island is and how much is there to discover! Or you can just enjoy the sun and the sea, whole day at the beach,... as You would like to spend your holiday! Fuerteventura would make your dream holidays come true. Lots of holiday offers are waiting for you: the cheapest package holiday or the luxury villa for an individual journey? There are also many accommodations for your self catering holidays to rent: hotels, holiday homes, apartments, villas for rent and much more.
